I think there might be an argument to ignorance is bliss.
Self-awareness gets too much hype.
What we fail to adequately emphasize is that it is the first the first of MANY steps, and that in fact, those many steps are the actual point. I know this for a fact because there are a number of emotions, thoughts and patterns that I have and am aware of. This awareness has done absolutely nothing but tell me “This is here and probably, this is why” (sometimes the latter is even absent). There is no further guidance, no information about what to do next, and because sometimes the appropriate action is inaction, if anything should be done at all.
It takes a lot of energy to process awareness. One must be well fed. I do not eat enough to be this self-aware. Being aware does not equal caring, but if you do care, you become the brainchild of a social scientist and psychologist. You realize that not all the things you notice are for “fixing”, some are for “selective expression”, some are for “amplification”, some are for “deletion” and much more. This is step two, and can take anything from mere seconds to years. As you can see, this is not for weak.
I am not saying self-awareness is bad, on the contrary. I am simply tired right now and the active emotional computation makes me wish it were something that could be a bit more background so I can breathe a little and focus, completely on something else for a minute.
In other news:
One of the sweetest emotions in our arsenal is nostalgia. It really is.
MTN, you will crumble, Airtel you too.
Here’s some clip art from the book I read. I call the clip art “In the margins”. Check it out here.
I’m reading a new book now, it’s slower paced, or maybe I am. Whichever.
I just watched the 10th episode of Shogun. Oi! It’s a good show.
Listen of the week: Ladies and gentlemen, the incredible Ayra.
Thank you for reading.

I appreciate this coming from you, it's very relatable and important that we come to this realization that just because we noticed doesn't mean that we have to fix everything. Saves us from guilting ourselves into a messiah complex. Self-awareness is beyond overhyped to be honest!
Extra shout-out for Shogun. One of my favorites of 2024!
