*Blows away dust
It’s been ages hasn’t it.
I have school (aka emotional hell) to thank for my absence, and as much as I would love to rant about it , and trust me there is quite a lot to say, I would love to focus on the moment. I need to be in the present to maximize the next five days of rest. A few years ago, someone explained that rest may not necessarily mean lounging about - which is amazing and essential for happiness.
But it sometimes means working on something different. I believe this to be true, at least for me. It may just be restlessness if we’re being honest but my ideal periods of rest are hours of binge watching shows, mindless social media scrolling and unburdened sleeping punctuated with montage style blocks of deep work on secondary projects and fairytale ideas.
This is why I have a much needed break and somehow have a 15 item to-do list I hope to get through by the end of these 5 days. It is hilarious really but I’d like to see how far I get. To accomplish this, the plan is to update this platform and possibly its inhabitants of my progress for the next five days.
On that note, here are today’s achievements:
No. 1 I got my hair done. This was a big one. Love my hair stylist, love my hair. Getting my hair done is one of my favorite things to do. However, it is exhausting and quite time consuming.
No. 2 I watched Shogun, I’m a couple episodes in and I loved it from the first. For clarity, there is a single item on this list that has a sub-list of shows I intend to watch before Tuesday, so they all count as a single item so this is more like No. 2.1
Not on the list, but a primary goal of these 5 days is truly resting. Which means I must strike the balance. I haven’t worked out since February 3rd,2024. My bones creak and my muscles have atrophied. I’m glad to move my joints again. I am glad to get back to slow mornings. I will probably write another piece about mornings ( here’s the last one), and it’d likely be about slow mornings, they are truly one of my favourite things. Makes me wonder how and why I chose medicine.
I have truly missed this space.
Thank you for reading,
